In this blog we go a step further and expand on some of the ways that tactile therapies, manual therapies and acupuncture. May promote more doggy happiness, promote playful behaviour & wellness. Beyond just feeling happier due to the absence of pain.
We know what it is like as humans…
As highlighted in earlier blog. When we are in discomfort, we tend to disengage, and when the pain goes, we reengage and feel happier.
Also, when we feel more comfortable, we get back into our physical activity routines, for a dog this could be getting back into their walk and play activities, further re-elevating their mood.
In addition, there’s something else that is increasingly being researched in the field of neurophysiology, that is, the synergistic impact that spinal adjustments, manipulation and massage may have on the central nervous system.
This impact may occur at both the local spinal segment level and areas of the brain. Such as the brains prefrontal cortex, which may have influence on feelings and mood which compliments the enhanced general body function that may positively effects feelings.
What’s interesting about this research, is that isn’t related to pain, as the people in the research are asymptomatic (pain free).
Sooo… what might be happening
It’s likely that multiple factors are combing and acting synergistically to enhance happiness
Mechanisms related to reduced pain
With reduced pain dogs can feel happier
Mechanisms independent from pain…
Something else that makes dogs very happy…
and is unique to our practice, is at the end of the treatment when they receive their chicken tender, cheese or abalone and lamb treats.
Now that’s doggy happiness!
